Antique Cambodian Silver Elongated Gourd / Melon Shape Betel Box

DESCRIPTION:
Small, antique Cambodian silver Betel box with an elongate melon or gourd shape. This was collected by a US government employee stationed in Cambodia in the early 1960s. It is not hallmarked that I can see, but tests as high grade silver - probably .800 silver. Weight is 63.8 grams. I would guess it dates to the early part of the 20th century.
It includes detailed repousse designs in a scale pattern on the raised lobes of the "melon", an intricate filigree flower on top and is capped with a little twisted stem and leaf finial. It measures about 3 1/2" long by 2 1/4" wide, and about 2" tall to the top of the fnial.
The box is in good condition with it's original patina - I have not polished it. I found one small split in the silver on the bottom edge of the lid (minor, but see close-up picture), and a shallow dent on the bottom. Free Domestic Shipping!
