Heartbreaking Update on Missing Newlywed Nurse Who Never Showed Up For Work

Newlywed Melissa Jubane married her longtime boyfriend last month in a tropical Hawaiian wedding.
The couple had been dating for more than a decade and finally decided to tie the knot in the place where they met and later got engaged.
It was a dream come true for the young couple.
They were planning a life together, with Jubane searching for a new job in Washington so she could be closer to her husband and family.
But just weeks later when Jubane never showed up for work at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, it was clear something was terribly wrong.
The Beaverton Police Department conducted a welfare check for 32-year-old Melissa Jubane on September 4. Family and co-workers become concerned after she had not reported for her shift at St. Vincent Hospital in Portland, police said on Facebook.
Officials searched Jubane’s apartment and were unable to find her.
“Her absence without communication was deemed unusual and alarming,” police said.
Law enforcement and family members tried to contact Jubane, but they were unsuccessful. Bank and credit card records did not appear to show any information about her location.
Jubane was then classified as a missing person in national law enforcement databases.
Investigators determined that one of Jubane’s neighbors, 27-year-old Bryce Johnathan Schubert, was allegedly involved in her disappearance. He was arrested on Friday and charged with second-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and second-degree abuse of a corpse.
Officials said Jubane’s remains have been recovered, but they did not disclose how or where they were found.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the community members who have assisted with the search for Melissa. Our deepest condolences go out to Melissa’s family, friends and coworkers,” the Beaverton Police Department said in a statement.
Schubert appeared in court virtually on Monday. He did not speak, but his attorney entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.
He is scheduled to appear in court again on Tuesday and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 16.
Hundreds, including colleagues and friends of Jubane, gathered to remember her at a vigil on Monday.
“I miss her,” Jubane’s mother-in-law, Imelda Llantero, told KHON2. “I’m so happy Bryan met her, I told Bryan to always love her. They were happy, very happy.”
The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information in the case should contact the Beaverton Police Department at 503-526-2280.
Mamta Kafle Bhatt, a pediatric nurse, was reported missing in Virginia after she failed to show up to work on August 1.
Her husband, Naresh Bhatt, was arrested on August 22 and charged with one felony count of concealing a dead body. He is being held without bond.
Naresh Bhatt was allegedly the last person to see his wife before her disappearance.
Prosecutors claim that blood was found in the couple’s home and there was evidence that a body had been dragged. The defense argued that there is no evidence Mamta Kafle Bhatt had been murdered or that the blood belonged to her.
